Research suggests following main actions for Bitter Melon fruit: hypoglycemic (lowers blood sugar), hypocholesterolemic (lowers cholesterol), antibacterial, carminative (expels gas), bitter. It may help with diabetes, high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and high blood pressure.
Suggested use: Dosage depends on health, age, and other individual conditions. ½ tsp 2-3 times daily by monitoring blood values. Stir powder into food or juice.
The fruit is safe, although drug interactions may occur: Bitter melon may potentiate insulin and anti-diabetic drugs and cholesterol-lowering drugs. Do not use if pregnant or lactating.
